Led by attorneys with project management expertise, we collaborated with a Fortune 500 car rental group to analyze the way they worked with their outside legal counsel, enabling them to reduce the number of firms and increase the value of their legal spend.

To reduce spend, increase efficiencies and better serve internal business needs, our Client wanted to reinvent the way they worked with outside legal services. They asked us to help them implement a global law firm convergence program and new e-billing and matter management system

What We Did

  • Brought together a team of Legal Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance and Accounting consultants, led by attorneys with project management expertise, to manage and help execute changes in critical workstreams.
  • Developed and executed a strategy to transition over 2,000 legal matters from over 600 law firms to only seven.
  • Applied established PM methodologies to categorize legal work and collaborated with our Client to determine which substantive matters needed to be transferred to the appropriate outside counsel.
  • Mapped data and implemented our Client’s e-billing and matter management functions to its new system.

  • Enabled our Client to realize 30% savings in legal spend in the first fiscal year.
  • Positioned our Client’s legal departments to provide more efficient and effective legal advice and counsel to the business.
