About This Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager for an interim consulting engagement beginning in early September and continuing through February 2027.
The client prefers an onsite consultant in Canton, Ohio, but is willing to provide flexibility for the right candidate. Consultants who can travel to the client site for the first two weeks and then periodically throughout the engagement are encouraged to apply. Candidates within driving distance or with convenient nonstop-flight access to the area are especially desirable.
What You Will Work On
The Payroll Manager will oversee end-to-end payroll operations. This role is well suited for a hands-on payroll leader who can quickly step into an established environment, maintain payroll accuracy and compliance, resolve issues, and provide stability during a period of transition.
- Lead and oversee end-to-end payroll operations, including the management and execution of full payroll cycles.
- Supervise and support a team of Payroll Associates.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Perform and/or oversee payroll reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Troubleshoot payroll issues and serve as a key point of contact for payroll-related questions and escalations.
- Manage payroll tax filings and related compliance requirements, including federal, state, and local obligations.
- Oversee garnishment orders and compliance with applicable wage and hour regulations.
- Support payroll audits and provide necessary documentation and analysis.
- Maintain alignment with SOX requirements and internal controls related to payroll.
- Partner effectively with HR, Accounting, and other internal stakeholders to resolve issues and improve communication.
What You Will Bring
- Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll operations at the Payroll Manager or comparable leadership level.
- Previous experience supervising payroll staff
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, reconciliations, payroll taxes, garnishments, and payroll compliance.
- Systems used are SAP and ADP.
- Strong problem-solving and issue-resolution skills.
- Ability to quickly assess an existing payroll environment and operate independently.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when partnering with HR and Accounting.
- Ability to work 40–45 hours per week for the duration of the engagement.
- Ability and willingness to travel to Canton, Ohio, particularly during the first two weeks of the engagement.
