The Challenge

In preparation for a large-scale digital transformation, the Client’s senior leadership sought to document and organize their capabilities and business processes. RGP was engaged to establish a Business Architecture function within the Product Management organization, including designing an Operating Model to guide the new function.

The RGP team facilitated workshops and interviews with stakeholders, developing an “L0” context diagram to clarify the Bank’s value streams, roles, and interactions within the operating environment. More detailed “L1-L4” business diagrams were also created to map the Client’s business capabilities and organizational structures to core value streams, helping drive requirements for upcoming system transformations aimed at enhancing the Client’s commercial and consumer loan origination capabilities.

The Solution

RGP deployed business and data architecture SMEs alongside experienced strategy consultants to help the client develop an operating model for the new Business Architecture function. The team facilitated workshops and deep dives to document a cohesive framework of capabilities, processes, and supporting systems through various levels of diagrams. They mapped the Bank’s value streams to capabilities and the underlying business processes and systems across current, transition, and target states. Additionally, RGP integrated key data entities and logical data models into the Business Architecture framework, enabling effective data management and transition planning for a large-scale digital transformation involving over five major applications/programs.
