Wendy’s Story

This is one of many stories from across RGP, stories that show what it really means to Dare to Work Differently®.

For more than a decade, Wendy Wildt carried an idea with her.

It showed up in quiet moments. While traveling. Even in her dreams.

Buckets.

“These images would come to me,” she says. “I would sketch them wherever I was. The words wouldn’t go away. The vision wouldn’t go away.”

Wendy had always loved children’s books. What emerged over time was a story about a character named Sam, who uses imaginary “magical buckets” to take away worries and fears at night, a simple but powerful way to help children process emotions.

The idea stayed with her for years.

At the same time, Wendy was building a vibrant career at RGP. Like many professionals, she worked more than full-time. The dream didn’t disappear, but it didn’t move forward either.

Until something shifted.

As Wendy began investing in her own growth, through programs, coaching, and reflection, she started to see the idea differently. Not as something distant, but as something possible.

“I had people asking me, ‘Why isn’t it done?’” she recalls. “That question changed everything.”

A pivotal moment came during a brief interaction with a children’s illustrator. With only minutes to share her work, Wendy presented years of sketches and poetry.

The response was immediate.

“He said, ‘I’ve never seen anything like this. You need to get this out into the world.”

For the first time, someone else saw what she had been carrying all along.

From there, Wendy moved into action.

She began sharing her dream more openly. And instead of hesitation, she found support.

“I would say, ‘I have this idea,’ and people started helping me. Literally helping me.”

Through those connections, she found the collaborators, guidance, and resources to bring her vision to life. Her book, Buckets: The Magic Inside Every Bucket, was published and went on to become an Amazon bestseller.

It wasn’t easy.

There was significant personal investment. Time. Energy. Trade-offs.

“I still have a day job,” she says. “That’s what funds the dream.”

But that’s also the point.

At RGP, Wendy didn’t have to choose between building a career and pursuing something deeply personal. She was able to do both, on her terms.

And she’s not done.

Her first book proved what was possible. Since then, she has contributed to an anthology and is now working on a third project focused on leadership and empowering women.

For Wendy, the bigger story isn’t just about publishing a book. It’s about what happens when you don’t let go of the idea that won’t leave you.

“I think we all have dreams that stay with us,” she says.

Her message, especially to women navigating demanding careers, is simple:

You don’t have to choose.

Creative ambition and professional growth don’t have to compete. When supported in the right environment, they can coexist and even strengthen each other.

“I just want to inspire other women,” she says. “We all have dreams. And we all need to work. The question is, how do you make them happen together?”

This is what it means to Dare to Work Differently.
