About This Role
We’re looking for an experienced Inventory & COGS Accountant to join our team and take ownership of inventory accounting, COGS, and the monthly close process.
New York City, 4–5 days onsite
Immediate Start, 3–6 Month Contract, Temp-to-Hire Potential
What You Will Work On
- Lead the monthly close for inventory and COGS, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Manage inventory costing and valuation, including landed costs, freight, duties, and variances
- Own the inventory subledger and ensure alignment with the general ledger
- Oversee purchase accruals and partner with Procurement and AP
- Analyze inventory movements, including in-transit inventory, consignment, returns, and write-offs
- Partner with FP&A and Operations on COGS, inventory, and margin analysis
- Drive process improvements, documentation, and automation within the ERP
- Support audits, physical inventory, and cycle count processes
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Inventory Accounting team
What You Will Bring
- Hands-on Inventory & COGS accounting experience is required
- Manager/Senior Manager-level accounting experience
- Experience in a consumer products, retail, manufacturing, or other physical product environment
- Strong understanding of inventory costing, valuation, and COGS
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment
- NetSuite experience strongly preferred
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to start immediately
