About This Role
As an Operational Accounting Consultant, you will provide hands-on support to the accounting organization, with a primary focus on month-end close, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and process improvement. The consultant will help ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial results while providing additional capacity to a team managing competing priorities.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional who can quickly step into an ambiguous environment, work independently, and make an immediate impact. This role requires strong technical accounting and analytical capabilities, as well as the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders, identify issues, and drive them through resolution
What You Will Work On
- Month-End Close: Own and execute key activities across the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and close-related analyses, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Variance Analysis: Analyze actuals against budget and forecast, identify key drivers of variances, and communicate findings and implications to relevant stakeholders.
- Account Reconciliations: Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, investigate variances and discrepancies, and drive timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Support the preparation and review of monthly financial results and provide analysis to help explain business performance and key movements.
- Year-End Close & Audit Support: Support year-end close activities, including preparation and review of year-end journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial reporting deliverables. Partner with internal and external audit teams by preparing requested documentation, responding to inquiries, and helping resolve audit items in a timely manner.
- Controls & Compliance: Support the maintenance and enhancement of internal controls over financial reporting and ensure adherence to accounting policies and applicable requirements.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve accounting and close processes, with a focus on reducing manual effort and improving efficiency and accuracy.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Finance, Operations, and other business teams to obtain required information, resolve issues, and support the timely completion of close activities.
- Ad Hoc / Special Projects: Provide accounting and financial analysis support on priority initiatives and other projects as needed.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8–15 years of relevant experience in operational accounting, corporate accounting, or a similar role, with significant month-end close experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and close processes.
- Proven ability to independently manage accounting deliverables and quickly ramp into a new organization or ambiguous environment.
- Experience with SAP, Oracle, or other enterprise ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills, including working with and analyzing large data sets.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and collaboration tools.
- CPA preferred, but not required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and levels.
- Global company experience required; high-tech industry experience strongly preferred.
