About This Role

Our client is seeking a hands-on and experienced Accounting & Financial Reporting Manager to lead and strengthen its accounting operations in Costa Rica while ensuring seamless alignment with a U.S.-based corporate finance organization.

This role is ideal for a finance leader who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and driving operational excellence. You will play a critical role in establishing a disciplined month-end close process, enhancing financial reporting accuracy, strengthening internal controls, and supporting financial consolidation efforts. As a key member of the finance team, you will partner with both local and global stakeholders to build a scalable accounting function that supports the organization’s continued growth.

Ideal Background

We are particularly interested in candidates from multinational corporations, Shared Services Centers (SSC), Global Business Services (GBS) organizations, or Big Four firms who have experience bridging local accounting operations with U.S. corporate reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate combines technical accounting excellence with a hands-on leadership style and a passion for building scalable processes, improving financial rigor, and developing a world-class finance function in Costa Rica.

What You Will Work On

Selected Consultant will:

  • Lead the accounting and financial reporting function for the Costa Rica operation.
  • Establish, manage, and continuously improve monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner closely with the U.S.-based finance organization to support financial consolidation and reporting activities.
  • Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and process governance to support a best-in-class finance organization.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that increase efficiency, scalability, and reporting accuracy.
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with local and global business partners to provide financial insights and operational support.
  • Mentor and develop accounting team members while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
  • Leverage NetSuite ERP to improve financial processes, reporting capabilities, and operational effectiveness.

What You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting.
  • Experience as an Accounting Manager, Controller, or other senior accounting leadership role.
  • Proven track record of implementing and managing robust month-end close processes.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with a solid understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience working within multinational organizations and reporting to a U.S.-based parent company.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP is required.
  • Experience supporting financial consolidations and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Fluency in Spanish and professional proficiency in English.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated success driving process improvements, building internal controls, and enhancing financial operations.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with a practical, roll-up-your-sleeves approach to execution.
