About This Role
We are seeking an experienced Revenue Accounting Consultant to support the revenue accounting function by ensuring the accurate and timely recording, recognition, and reporting of revenue in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies. This role plays a key part in maintaining the integrity of the financial statements, supporting the month-end close process, driving operational efficiencies, and partnering with cross-functional teams to address revenue-related matters.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in revenue accounting, experience with financial reporting and close processes, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
W2 Hourly Rate: $75-85/hr DOE
What You Will Work On
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial reporting.
- Ensure revenue transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, and applicable revenue recognition guidance.
- Review customer agreements and business transactions to determine appropriate accounting treatment and document accounting conclusions, as needed.
- Maintain and reconcile revenue-related balance sheet accounts, including deferred revenue, contract assets, contract liabilities, and accounts receivable-related balances.
- Analyze revenue trends and fluctuations, prepare management reports, and provide insights into key business drivers.
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Legal, FP&A, Billing, and other cross-functional teams to support accurate revenue accounting and resolve transaction-related issues.
- Assist with revenue forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning activities by providing revenue analyses and supporting schedules.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to audit requests, and assisting with revenue-related inquiries.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and enhance reporting through automation and system improvements.
- Participate in system implementations, process improvement initiatives, and other finance transformation projects impacting the revenue accounting function.
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies, procedures, and documentation to promote consistency and compliance.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in revenue accounting, general accounting, financial reporting, or a related accounting function.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and revenue accounting principles; experience with ASC 606 is preferred.
- Experience working in technology, SaaS, subscription-based, manufacturing, or other organizations with complex revenue processes is preferred.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, or similar financial systems.
- Familiarity with revenue automation, billing, or reporting tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification is preferred but not required.
