About This Role

We are looking for an experienced accounting professional with strong analytical skills who has the ability to leverage SQL as a tool for data analysis and process improvement. This consultant will support the revenue accounting systems team's process improvement initiatives, which are focused on accelerating the month-end close process, enabling earlier journal entry booking, and improving reporting readiness through process optimization, forecasting logic, and automation. This individual will partner closely with accounting, finance systems, and cross-functional stakeholders to analyze accounting processes, validate results, and help scale solutions that reduce manual effort and operational risk.

Duration: through end of year with opportunity of extension - Fully remote
Rate: $75-85 DOE

What You Will Work On

  • Support accounting process improvement initiatives related to month-end close and reporting readiness
  • Analyze accounting data, investigate variances, and validate outputs to support Revenue and Cost of Sales (COS) accounting processes
  • Partner with controllers, accounting teams, and systems stakeholders to understand requirements and improve existing workflows
  • Assist with testing, validation, and implementation of process enhancements and automation solutions
  • Use SQL and reporting tools to query, analyze, and validate accounting data
  • Provide proactive status updates, identify blockers, and independently drive workstreams to completion

What You Will Bring

  • Strong accounting foundation with experience in month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, controls, and audit support
  • Ability to understand and communicate accounting implications to business and finance stakeholders
  • Experience working directly with accounting teams, controllers, and leadership
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to investigate issues, validate results, and think through end-to-end accounting processes
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Tech / SaaS industry experience nice to have
  • SQL Requirements:
    • Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to run, modify, and interpret queries
    • Experience filtering, aggregating, and analyzing data to support business and accounting decisions
    • Advanced development or engineering-level SQL expertise is not required
