The Challenge

Our client, a global leader in the automotive industry, sought to enhance their corporate-wide smart design initiative aimed at optimizing value-added processes. To achieve this, they implemented Alteryx, a powerful data analytics tool, across their organization. The objective was to streamline and automate various tax-related processes, improving efficiency and accuracy.

02.

What We Did

Working closely with the client’s Tax Accounting and Compliance teams, we identified over 100 process streams ripe for improvement and automation using Alteryx. Key aspects of our collaboration included:

  • Training and Development: We conducted comprehensive training sessions for the client’s staff, ensuring they were proficient in using Alteryx to its full potential.
  • Process Flow Design and Enhancement: We designed and enhanced numerous Alteryx process flows, including: Base Erosion and Anti-Abuse Tax (BEAT) calculations, Apportionment for Vehicle Identification, State Net Operating Loss (NOL) reporting
  • Control Design: To ensure data integrity, we designed robust controls within Alteryx processes.
  • Ongoing Support: We provided continuous support to accommodate changes in data sources, ensuring the longevity and adaptability of the Alteryx processes.
  • Future projects include migrating these Alteryx flows to align with the client’s planned upgrades to Vertex and Onesource.

Our Impact

The implementation and optimization of Alteryx had a significant impact on the client’s operations including:

  • Efficiency Gains: The automation of routine processes resulted in a reduction of over 1,100 man-hours, allowing staff to focus on more analytical and strategic tasks.
  • Improved Controls and Standardization: We enhanced controls and standardized processes across Federal, State & Local compliance, Transfer Pricing, and Tax Accounting.
  • Integration with Business Intelligence Tools: As per the client’s requirements, we integrated Alteryx outputs with business intelligence applications such as QlikView, providing richer data insights.
  • Data Quality Improvements: Through our work, we identified and facilitated improvements in the underlying data, further enhancing the quality and reliability of the client’s analytical outputs.
