Brandon Johnson

CIO and EVP, Corporate Operations
Brandon Johnson

As the Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer at RGP, I lead the creation, development and execution of the company’s global technology and corporate support strategies.

Background

Tell us a little bit about your career journey before joining RGP.
Prior to joining RGP, I enjoyed a 20-year career as a Marine Corps Officer. Serving in a wide range of technology and operational roles, I last served as Director of Operating Forces Support at the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity, overseeing support for globally deployed Marine Corps command and control, communications, computer and intelligence systems. My background also includes combat-aviation, having served operationally as a Weapons Systems Officer in the F/A-18D Hornet, as well as having served in the U.S. Intelligence Community at the Office of Naval Intelligence.

Education
I have a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas El Paso, a Master’s in Computer Systems Management from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School.

Goals and Inspirations

What inspires you?
My team! I’m inspired every day by their level of commitment and their energy. They motivate me as my goal is to not let them down!

What is a goal you have your eyes set on?
My goal is to shift RGP to a fully digitally-enabled company by replacing our core systems and by streamlining and standardizing our processes so we are capable of growing to a multi-billion dollar company.

What does success in your role look like?
Fulfilling the Lead, Partner, Serve mindset to help RGP drive results. Lead by innovating and creatively applying technology to generate business value. Partner with the business in identifying and delivering quality solutions that facilitate growth and improvement. Serve our clients and our company with best in class services and support.

A Day in the Life

What was your best day at work at RGP?
Yesterday. Every day at RGP builds on the last and gets better!

What accomplishment makes you most proud since joining RGP?
I’m proudest of having built and led great teams. The Corporate Operations teams of Technology, HR, Payroll, Facilities and Business Operations are the ones who have the most to be proud of. They have tirelessly evolved the organization through massive change, and they continue to be ready for the next challenge.

Human-First

At RGP we bring a human-first approach. What does that mean to you?
Being human-first means that we understand that every meaningful accomplishment is ultimately the product of people. We also understand that the most important aspect of humanity is connection—with our clients as we partner in tackling their challenges and with each other inside the company as we work together.

How do the RGP values of Loyalty, Integrity, Focus, Enthusiasm, Accountability and Talent (LIFE AT) shape how you approach your role?
LIFE-AT encompasses the individual values that each person in our company ABSOLUTELY must have to be a successful contributor. I expect both myself and every member of my team to live these values every day.

YOU beyond RGP

How do you spend your time outside of work?
I enjoy hiking with my wife, spending time with friends and family, particularly my daughters as they finish college and enter their professional careers.

Name three words that describe you.
Positive, balanced, human

Do you have any skills or secret talents that most people don’t know about?
My daughters would tell you that I have an uncanny ability to tell bad jokes.

What charities or social causes are you passionate about?
I’m the Chair of the Board of Advisors for Southern California Society of Information Management (SCSIM). SIM is the largest non-profit senior technology leader network in the world. In its mission of driving education and leadership, it also has a strong philanthropy record particularly through support of STEM programs for disadvantaged and underrepresented groups. I also serve on the advisory board of USC’s Marshall School of Business Masters of Business Veteran program and enjoy working with veterans transitioning from the military to civilian careers.

Is there anything else about you that you would like people to know?
I’m always up for meeting new people, and I love connecting people and helping them achieve their goals!
