RGP Leadership
As CPO, I am excited to align our people strategies to our strategic vision, guide decisions that promote our unique culture as a competitive advantage and help us build and engage an exceptional team of professionals.
Background
Tell us a little bit about your career journey before joining RGP.
I have always been drawn to roles that focus on the people component of the business.
I began my career working for my alma mater, Emory University. After two years in higher education, I pursued a path in business and held various human resources roles for start-ups and public and privately held companies.
I served in talent acquisition, HR business partner, and employee relations roles in the consumer goods, manufacturing, and professional services industries. It has been a fun ride! In my last stop before joining RGP, I worked as a Director of Recruiting for a global professional services firm. In this role, I discovered the fulfillment of working in a people-focused role for an organization where human capital is the primary asset.
Education
I have two bachelor of science degrees in English and Psychology from Emory University.
Goals and Inspirations
What inspires you?
I’m a non-fiction and biography junkie. People’s stories of pushing past their perceived (or real) limitations to achieve a goal always inspire me. My spouse has identified this and now uses it to keep me interested in sporting events by peppering them with “human interest” anecdotes throughout the event! I guess there is value in knowing your audience!
I’m particularly inspired by the achievements of lesser-known/uncelebrated people. If this resonates with you, try a site I enjoy: passiton.com.
What is a goal you have your eyes set on?
Personally, I’m focused on creative goals this year that will push me out of my comfort zone and allow me to engage differently.
A professional goal is to consistently seek other perspectives by engaging in more networking activities with professionals inside and outside of RGP.
What does success in your role look like?
Driving an Employer of Choice environment where our workforce thrives, and our people strategies are pivotal to achieving our strategic vision.
A Day in the Life
What was your best day at work at RGP?
This sounds corny and insincere – but choosing only one is a tall order. I’d say the day I was meeting with a consultant and asked him why he made the decision to join RGP initially and what had kept him here. He shared that RGP was a gap measure for an unexpected interruption in his career and that he never intended to stay long-term. He walked me through multiple external career opportunities he’d explored during his tenure with us and why they did not out-measure his RGP experience. It was profound for me to have summarized over the course of one lunch conversation the impact our actions can have on another person’s happiness and professional fulfillment.
What accomplishment makes you most proud since joining RGP?
I’m proud to have directly contributed to the rapid and sustained growth in individual markets, regions, and accounts and to see firsthand the positive impact on the clients, consultants, and colleagues involved.
Human-First
At RGP, we bring a human-first approach. What does that mean to you?
Bringing a human-first approach means leveraging human competencies to help our clients meet their goals and drive results. We actively listen to their needs to ensure that we have a clear picture of what success looks like for them. We use this as our north star to offer solutions with a heavy emphasis on matching the right talent to the situation.
We place a high value on providing our clients with results-focused, collaborative, and adaptable human capital support, with the right technical and functional skills, industry experience, methodologies, and digitally enabled tools to drive success.
For RGP team members, a human-first approach means connecting team members to work that matters. It means demonstrating the premium we place on human talent and our commitment to driving a positive impact. Human first is investing in and continually demonstrating our “LIFE AT” values to help our employees thrive professionally.
How do the RGP values (Loyalty, Integrity, Focus, Enthusiasm, Accountability, and Talent) shape how you approach your role?
As RGP CPO, my team and I can best contribute to RGP by connecting the right talent to client opportunities. Our values serve as a critical component in hiring, promotion, and professional development decisions. I leverage our values as critical factors that shape our strategic workforce.
YOU beyond RGP
How do you spend your time outside of work?
I enjoy family time. With three teenagers, this translates to my husband, Sean, and me logging many hours at baseball fields, marching band practice, swim meets, chorus performances, and the list goes on – we love every minute of it.
I’m an avid reader and have recently set a goal of focusing more on personal fitness, so I find time to hit the gym a few times each week. As is not uncommon among Team RGP, I get a lot of fulfillment from contributing to a variety of service initiatives like St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Mercy Care.
Name three words that describe you.
Curious, optimistic, resourceful
Do you have any skills or secret talents that most people don’t know about?
For several years, I served anonymously and unpaid as a proofreader and editor for my husband, who wrote for several sports publications. This put my grammar skills to effective use, though my severely lacking sports knowledge sometimes negated that talent.
I also serve as a “closet stylist” – pun intended. My friends enlist me to “shop” in their closets and create new and inventive looks for them using what they already have. It’s fun and relaxing for me and helpful to them! Like I said, I can be resourceful!
What charities or social causes are you passionate about?
My family and I are passionate supporters of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We continue to fund-raise and volunteer for the organization.
A social problem I’m passionate about is tackling poverty and homelessness. I volunteer with Mercy Care, an organization focused on healthcare for the poor and underemployed.
