Japanese Auto Manufacturer
In order to reduce costs and increase agility, a leading Japanese automaker made the decision to update its aging infrastructure by moving to a cloud-based system. They hired RGP to help make the change.
The Client developed a PMO model for the transformation effort, and the project was divided into five work streams, which included program management, infrastructure readiness, collaboration, desktop readiness and business applications.
Three North American affiliates (sales and marketing, financial services, and manufacturing) and a suite of new collaborative tools had to be migrated from an older version of MS Office Suites and Lotus Notes to a new cloud-based email system. The change affected more than 25,000 employees.
A challenging global economy and natural disasters in Asia heightened the importance of collaboration and communication. The company counted on our change management expertise to help ensure a smooth migration.
How We Helped
Our deliverables included:
- An organizational change management and communication plan
- A Change Champions and Early Adopters program
- Executive briefings for executive steering bodies as needed
- Program communications for multiple business units
- Training support materials
Nearly 15,000 employees are already using the new tools and technology. When surveyed about their migration experience, staff consistently ranked program communication in the highest of seven categories. Now, employees are finding new ways to connect and collaborate—checking other people’s availability, connecting instantly through text or video, arranging an ad hoc video conference through Lync. Soon, they’ll also have new paths of communication through mobile access.
